Discussions...

Well, it's now been over a month since this website was started. We've had a lot of positive feedback, from the likes of Our Sunday Visitor, many Catholic bloggers, etc.; we've also had some people inform us of their concerns about what we're doing and/or why we're doing it.

I can't really address all these concerns at this time, and I urge people to at least read the 'About' section (link at the top of this page) before criticizing the website. It should clear up some misconceptions.

Anyways, as time goes on, I hope to add some exciting new things to the website... maybe some forums, maybe more content, maybe more resources... Anyone with ideas for awesome things we can do with this website—feel free to chime in and leave a comment.

Hi, Lauren of the Cnytr blog here. LOVE the site! I'm mysteriously amused by LOLcats myself. I love the concept, too. It's something that simply MUST be done, and anybody who spends a lot of time around Medieval art should agree -- some of the things are humorously strange. People who don't agree either well-intentioned-ly have their priorities misplaced, or are St. Jerome-like crankypants and should be ignored. (Or they haven't seen icanhascheezeburger.com)

Anyway, my one suggestion would be the following: perhaps a comment on the image itself, in addition to the saint ? For example, in today's image of John of God (which HA!!!), I don't really get the original reference (i.e. why's he pointing to an empty place setting? Is it a St. Dominic sort of thing where he prayed and angels filed his empty plate?).

Just a sentence or two, nothing too in-depth.

Thanks!

I think your suggestion is great! I'll try to keep it in mind in the future.

I like Lauren's idea about having a line or two about the original painting--if info can be found on it.  I realize that may be difficult and time consuming to look into.  Art History was one of my favorite classes because of our teacher's explanations of little symbolic details in the works...

Looks like the images are no longer in the RSS feed. It was much nicer having the daily images in the feed instead of having to click through.

I think the images have now been restored... I've been having some trouble with the feeds, and each thing I do to get them to work correctly seems to have a negative effect. Let me know if you still have any problems.
