Saint Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney (his French name... we just call him John Vianney here in the 'States) was a parish priest powerhouse; kind to all, most especially the poor, and an affable man.
This year, he is the patron of the Year for Priests, and during the next nine days (starting today), we ask his intercession through the Novena to Saint John Vianney [from EWTN; google for others]. His feast day (and the last day of the Novena) is August 4.
