Talkz to the Hand

'Cuz the Angel ain't listenin!

The image above, which, according to Wikipedia, is from one of the panels that make up the Isenheim Altarpiece, by Matthias Grünewald (I love typing umlauts!).

In it, we see Mary conversing with the angel Gabriel during the Annunciation. Of course, it seems Mary might be a little off-put by the way the angel's hand is oriented! In any case, the work is a bit anachronistic (by design), as I'm sure Mary didn't have a modern bound book, with metal locking clasps, nor did she have a finely machined metal handle on a nice wooden box...

But that's besides the point. Mary said a resounding "yes!" and we were given the greatest gift of all—her son, our Lord, Jesus Christ!
