Whut? It's Casual Friday, right? Saint Jerome

I'm just getting warm!

[In the same vein as our earlier image of Saint Peter, we have Saint Jerome!].

Saint Jerome was a priest and apologist. He is best known for translating the Vulgate. He is recognized by the Catholic Church as a canonized saint and Doctor of the Church. He is considered the patron of theological learning, archeologists, archivists, Bible scholars, librarians, libraries, schoolchildren, students, and translators. In art his attributes are a lion, cardinal attire, cross, skull, trumpet, owl, books and writing material.

There are many paintings of Saint Jerome in the wilderness, depicting his life as a hermit in the Syrian desert. Many times he is depicted with a lion as it is told that a lion became his constant companion in the desert after he pulled a thorn from a its paw.

Lol! Great minds think alike. I completely missed the St. Peter LOL Saint. Something must be wrong with my feed reader. I'll try to be a little more original with my next LOL Saint. :]

It's okay, this one was actually posted on a Friday, so it makes sense for casual Friday...
